DJI is a China based company which manufacture unmanned aerial vehicles, camera systems, gimble, and propulsion systems. Their drone is popular world-wide accounting 76% drone market share worldwide in year 2021. DJI is not the first player for wireless microphone. They have launched DJI Mic in year 2022 and the upgraded version DJI MIC 2 is out in the market with robust feature.
Charging case
The charging case is precisely design and holds all the accessories perfectly. The magnetic charging bottom of charging case consists of one receiver, two wireless microphones, two adaptors (type C & lightning connector). DJMI 2 also provided a camera audio cable and USB-C cable. The battery life is about 18 hours with charging case.
Receiver
Receiver is unique with touch screen where the audio level can be seen. This will help content creators to ensure that their microphones are working perfectly. The thumb wheel facilitates precise and quick parameter adjustment. You can also swipe up on the screen for different modes and settings. It has headphone connection port and standard 3.5 audio port to connect to camera.
Wireless Microphone
The microphone comes with clip along with magnet that provide secure attachment. You can either clip or use magnet to attach the mic clothing. DJI Mic 2 has noise cancellation and it drastically reduce noisy background and echoes. The battery life of microphone is up to 6 hours with 8 GB internal storage. It has 32-bit float recording which is considered to be better than 24-bit recording. The microphone also has Bluetooth mode to connect with I-phone and smart phones. You don’t need to connect receiver to your phone while you connect on Bluetooth mode.
How to connect receiver to camera?
You need to connect two things to receiver before connecting to the camera. First, connect adapter to receiver and connect to camera. Plug audio cable from receiver to camera audio port. It offers recommended camera settings and receiver will detect the best match to for high quality of video.
Quality of Audio
We connected and tested; the quality of audio is great. The intelligent noise cancelling feature is also good reducing noisy background. No wind noise was detected in the audio with windscreen on the transmitter. The range test- 250 meters worked well.
